Washington Pavilion Management, Inc. (WPMI) is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will help maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports, and ensure financial transactions are processed with precision and compliance.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and experience working in a fast-paced environment. Experience with non-profit accounting is preferred. This role plays an important part in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization and supporting sound financial decision-making.
What You’ll Do
Accounting Responsibilities
- Maintain and update accounting records, files, and documentation
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
- Process and support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
- Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
- Monitor financial transactions and identify discrepancies
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
- Assist in developing and implementing internal controls and procedures
- Monitor cash flow and assist with treasury functions
- Record, track, and reconcile inventory transactions
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies
- Assist with audit preparation and tax reporting
- Support financial system upgrades, implementations, or process improvements
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to leadership
- Perform additional duties as needed to support organizational goals
Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles and practices
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes
- Expertise in general ledger reconciliation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial staff
- Proficiency with accounting software and payroll systems
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
- Understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of general accounting experience
- Experience with journal entries and account reconciliation
- Experience working in a non-profit organization preferred
- Experience with accounting software and HRIS systems
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
