Commercial HVAC Copper Journeyman (Piping Specialist)
ATMAC Mechanical is looking for a skilled Commercial Copper Journeyman to join our installation teams in Plano and the DFW area. This is a "Build-Only" role—we aren't looking for service technicians. We want mechanical specialists who take pride in clean, high-performance piping for VRF and Mission Critical systems.
The Role
Working under a Leadman, you will be responsible for the mechanical installation of refrigerant piping systems, ensuring every joint is perfect and every system is "startup-ready."
- Piping Excellence: Installation of copper for VRF/VRV systems and Liebert computer room units based on BIM-coordinated plans.
- The "Clean-Build" Standard: You must perform continuous nitrogen-purged brazing (no carbon buildup) and utilize Clean Cap procedures to keep systems moisture-free.
- System Testing: Execute high-pressure nitrogen tests (600 PSI) and perform the Triple Evacuation process to ensure a bone-dry system for the startup team.
- Technical Execution: Proper orientation of VRF branch boxes and headers to ensure correct oil return and flow.
Requirements
- Experience: 4+ years of commercial HVAC piping experience.
- Certifications: EPA Universal required.
- Skills: Proficiency in sil-phos and silver soldering; ability to read commercial blueprints and follow precise routing/elevations.
- Mentorship: Ability to work alongside and help train an apprentice on the "Atmac way" of clean installation.
