Job description:

The Pipe Fitter is responsible for installing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing piping systems used to convey water, steam, chemicals, or other materials. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in industrial, commercial, or residential environments.

As a Welder for this project in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, you will join metal parts to create strong, durable products and structures that meet exacting specifications. You’ll read and interpret blueprints, prepare materials, and operate welding equipment safely and accurately to produce work that meets our high-quality standards.

Pay Rate/Schedule

  • $35-$37/hr based on years of experience + $115 per day (7 days) per diem
  • Contract/Project Duration is 6-9 months (depending on start date) Project will likely run until the end of the year
  • Scheduled hours: 10 hours per day
  • Shifts: 7 days per week, 10 hour days

Welder Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
  • Measure, cut, thread, bend, and assemble pipes using hand and power tools
  • Install piping systems including valves, fittings, gauges, and supports
  • Test piping systems for leaks, pressure, and proper operation
  • Inspect and maintain existing pipe systems to ensure safety and efficiency
  • Troubleshoot and repair piping issues, replacing damaged components as needed
  • Set up welding equipment, tools, and materials for the job.
  • Perform welding processes including MIG, TIG, stick, and flux-core.
  • Inspect welds to ensure compliance with quality and safety requirements.
  • Use grinders, flame cutting rig (torch), plasma torch, scaling gun, and other fabrication tools for prep and finishing.
  • Maintain and perform basic repairs on welding equipment.
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear proper PPE for task at hand.
  • Work collaboratively to meet deadlines and production goals.
  • Document work completed and materials used.
  • Identify and Follow specific welding procedures for the job requirement

Fitter / Welder Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a welder or in a similar role.
  • Skilled in multiple welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick, etc.). must be able to pass specific welding certification tests per each method and material group as required.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and technical documents.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and industry best practices.
  • Physical stamina to handle heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
  • Provide own hand tools to perform general work.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; proof of previous welding certifications preferred.
  • Certifications Required:

Fitter / Welder Working Conditions

  • Outdoor industrial environment (onshore) with temperature variations depending on season.
  • PPE required, including Steel toe boots with metatarsal guard, hard hat, welding helmet, gloves, and protective clothing.
  • Overtime anything over 40 hours, 30 hours Overtime guaranteed (Sunday and Holidays automatic Overtime)
  • Shifts are 10 hour days/7 days per week
