Nevada Copper (TSX:NCU) is a copper producer and owner of the Pumpkin Hollow copper project. Located in Nevada, USA, Pumpkin Hollow has substantial reserves and resources including copper, gold, and silver. Its two fully permitted projects include the high-grade underground mine and processing facility, which is now in the production stage, and a large-scale open pit project, which is advancing towards feasibility status.

Purpose of the Position:

The Process Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for the safe definition, planning and completion of process related maintenance activities.  Working closely with process operations, the Process Maintenance Supervisor will provide guidance to the process maintenance crew, coordinate with contractors, process and mine operations and the technical services group to achieve planned goals, mechanical availability and production targets.

Accountability:

The Process Maintenance Supervisor reports directly to the site Process Manager in all aspects of process plant operations and maintenance.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Projects and Operations Support:

  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to working safely as an advocate and leader of a safe work culture for all employees
  • Lead daily safety meetings
  • Ensure employees are properly trained in areas of process maintenance
  • Conduct field walks to determine and confirm the scope of work
  • Identify specific safety hazards that may be encountered in the execution of the work and ensure that confined space, ventilation and other conditions requiring FLRA, JSA and internal work permits are completed prior to initiating efforts
  • Responsible for maximizing the mechanical availability of all plant equipment
  • Screen incoming work orders for priority, scope and level of planning required
  • In conjunction with the Process Maintenance Planner, prepare daily and weekly work plans, schedules and facilitate maintenance planning meetings
  • Interface with supply chain for the purchase of spares, repairs and warranty issues
  • Provide leadership to prioritize work assignments to maximize employee productivity and optimize equipment utilization
  • Build effective working relationships with all departments through participation at meetings and promoting daily, cooperative interaction
  • Provide leadership by administering fair and consistent personnel policy
  • Provide leadership in the effective implementation and support of a work order-based, preventive maintenance program
  • Provide input for formulating and defining policy at the mine site level
  • Direct, monitor and coach subordinates, observing their effectiveness and subsequently conducting performance reviews
  • Review reports and work plans; perform spot inspections of equipment
  • Provide technical assistance for failure analysis on related components in conjunction with equipment manufacturers

Knowledge/Education:

The Process Maintenance Supervisor must be technically proficient with the following attributes:

  • Minimum five (5) years of plant mechanical maintenance experience required
  • Prior maintenance supervisory experience required
  • Experience with U.S. Mining Regulatory Agencies
  • Familiarity with maintenance procedures, including preventive non-destructive diagnostic methodologies, repair and machinery application in an industrial environment required
  • Ability to communicate with technical specialists and to interpret technical drawings and specification documents
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well with others required including process operations, technical specialists, site operators, contractors, supply chain and other functions
  • Demonstrated ability to perform essential functions of position required
  • A passion for innovative concepts that can transform the business

Skills/Abilities:

The Process Maintenance Supervisor must demonstrate the following skills:

  • General knowledge of health & safety, mining, maintenance and accounting functions
  • Knowledge of all phases of copper processing as it pertains to associated equipment
  • Knowledge and experience developing policies and procedures for the organization
  • Advanced computer skills applying Microsoft Office
  • Able to work independently, as well as an effective member of the management team
  • Functional budgeting expertise
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and communication skills with an ability to interact at all levels within the company

Physical Demands:

The incumbent must demonstrate the following physical demands:

  • Lift and potentially carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Operate a vehicle with a valid driver’s license
  • Climb stairwells and be capable of working on elevated platforms
  • Walk on uneven ground
  • Periodically work in adverse weather conditions
  • Sit for extended periods of time
  • Stay alert during periods of inactivity
  • The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
  • The ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hand, and wrists.

Work Schedule and Personal Protective Equipment:

The incumbent is expected to work a 40 hour/week schedule and will interact with direct reports who will be split between day shift and a rotating 12-hour day shift/night shift assignment.  Personal Protective Equipment required and to be worn for the field work portion of this position includes, but is not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots.  All equipment must be MSHA approved as applicable.
