Job Description:

Lead, direct and oversee the safe and effective daily operation of a single or multiple project(s) depending on size and complexity.  Take action as needed to ensure project goals, objectives and initiatives are met in alignment with the mission, vision and values of Barnhill Contracting Company.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for leading project teams to implement and maintain a clean and safe work site and to motivate field operation teams to work to their highest efficiency to exceed project, equipment requirements, quality control, and operating division productivity and budget goals.  Work with project manager(s) on high level reporting of cost and productivity.
  • Manage contract requirements and scopes of work.  Document field activities including punch-list, close-out, and communicate contract/scope changes with project manager(s).
  • Effectively manage project(s) to meet schedule by scheduling material delivery and coordinating subcontractors and field personnel.
  • Provide feedback and guidance on production rates and goals.
  • Effectively plan and communicate project needs (i.e. labor, equipment, materials, etc.) Understand equipment capabilities and maximize utilization.
  • Promote and Support good internal and external relationships throughout all divisions and departments of Barnhill Contracting Company, with clients and the public

Minimum Qualifications & Training: 

  • 3 years minimum experience in the construction industry, a high school degree or an equivalent combination of training and work experience required.
  • Must be 21 yrs old
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of integrity and establish a proactive approach to Values Based Leadership.
  • Must have a high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Must have conflict management and open-ended and probing questioning skills.

Task Essential to Job Functions:

  • Computer skills that are essential includes Microsoft excel, word, outlook and HCSS.
  • Must maintain a daily commitment of Barnhill's values not limited to Commitment, Family, Integrity, Learning/Development and Diversity.
  • Technical skills include: Plan and Specification Reading, Scheduling, Construction Technology, Equipment, Means and Methods and Safety and Environmental Regulations.
  • A NC Driver's License is required as well as being certified in OSHA 10-hour, Trenching and Excavation, Erosion Control Level 2, Asphalt, MSHA and EEO
